The school was started by the Reliance Foundation in the year 2003. It is named after the conglomerate of Reliance Industries Late Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani- Father of Mr. Mukesh Ambani and Mr. Anil Ambani. The founder and chairperson of Dhirubhai Ambani International School is Mrs. Nita Ambani – the wife of Mukesh Ambani – the head of Reliance Industries.
