Introduction
History is the study of past events. It is used in every field in order to trace the origins of it. Today, an increasing number of people have taken an interest in studying history. They are inquisitive about the past and want to learn more about it. While studying history, students learn about the past flora and fauna, the great intellectual scholars as well as ancient civilizations. To quench this thirst of knowledge, we have many institutes that offer courses in history to their students.
Courses
Various institutes all over India offer courses to students in History. These courses are taught at various levels.
School Level
Usually most schools in India teach the subject of history under social sciences along with civics.

Junior College Level
History is taught to students of “Arts” or “Humanities” for both the years at the junior college level. Students with sufficient grades from any stream can gain entrance to a college offering History at this level.
Undergraduate Level
Colleges offering humanities may offer a Bachelor of Arts in History (B.A. in History) at the undergraduate level. This is a three-year course. Students learn about the history of India and the world as well as various events and their causes. Students who have passed the 12th standard from any stream with sufficient marks can gain entrance to a college offering History at this level.
Postgraduate Level
Colleges offer a Masters of Arts in History (M.A. in History) at the postgraduate level. Here, students learn a little more in-depth about the past happenings. This is a two-year course. Students who have completed their Bachelor in any field with sufficient marks can gain entrance to a college offering History at this level.
Doctorate Level
Institutes offer a Ph.D. in History to students who plan on studying History in India. The course takes a minimum of 3 years to complete. Students who have completed their Masters with sufficient marks can gain entrance to a college offering History at this level.
