The Universal School situated in Ghatkopar (East) at Mumbai is a co-ed day school. TUS is affiliated with the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) based in the UK. The Universal School at Ghatkopar is a part of the Universal Education Group of schools and colleges, a Maharashtra-based educational network which offers education from Pre-nursery to class 12.
TUS has a sprawling and radiant building with fully air-conditioned and spacious classrooms equipped with whiteboards and digital audiovisual systems. The school infrastructure also comprises of a well-stocked library, well-equipped modernistic science labs as well as a play area. The school campus is also facilitated with CCTV surveillance in all public areas.
The school offers a CIE curriculum which is delivered using digital content and live videos telecasted within the classrooms. In the pre-primary classes, learning is carried out through observation, reasoning and practical experience. This programme comprises of high-quality teaching and assessment resources that identify the students’ strengths and weaknesses. Other essential subjects that are introduced include ICT, arts, humanities, design along with an additional language.
Moving on, class 7 and 8 have a much flexible programme that carries out careful monitoring progress and further helps to enhance English, mathematics and science knowledge. The crucial difference that the curriculum recognises from that of class 1-6 is the opportunity for research, self-exploration and peer-feedback.
Further, classes 9 and 10, the core curriculum is shaped to fit the students, and hence, cross-curricular perspectives are introduced into the critical thinking zone. The curriculum emphasises on creative thinking and problem-solving. At the beginning of the school’s IGCSE programme, students are expected to choose subjects from five core subject groups.
Lastly, the Cambridge-Advanced programme inculcates deep understanding, independent learning, and builds the base for an opportunity to study at highly renowned universities worldwide. This programme includes Cambridge International AS and A Level and Cambridge Pre-U qualifications.
