The TonsBridge School, Dehradun

The Tonsbridge School was established in 2013 and began its first session on April 1st of the same year. The school was initially known as Shemford Doon and is affiliated to the CBSE board. The school is under the Doon Modern Education Society and has grown to become one of the best schools in the country. The location of the school in Dehradun far away from the city helps students learn and study in a calm and quiet environment allowing them to concentrate on their education without many distractions. 

Academics

In the primary section, The TonsBridge School uses textbooks as prescribed by the CBSE board as per the National Curriculum Framework. The school uses English as the medium of communication for most subjects. In the secondary section, the school continues to follow the CBSE curriculum and prepares students for the All India Secondary School Examinations. In the senior secondary section, the school prepares students for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination.

The TonsBridge School offers students many subjects that they can study. In the 10th grade, students here study subjects like English, Hindi, Social Studies (History & Civics and Geography), Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and Computer Science. In the 12th grade, students can choose to study science, commerce, or humanities. This gives students an option to decide what career path they wish to follow and study the subjects they require to pursue the career of their choice. Students here study subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, History, Geography, Economics, Psychology, Political Science, Hindi, Commerce, Accounts and Physical Education.

Scholarship

The school tries to encourage students to achieve academic excellence. Hence, The TonsBridge School offers students a scholarship as well. Meritorious students of classes XI and XII get the Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Scholarships. The scholarship includes free education and transport for two years. Under the scholarship the students are also offered coaching from the Aakash institutes at the school’s expense.

Infrastructure and Facilities

The TonsBridge School understands the need for a good environment for its students and does its best to provide students with good facilities. These help students learn quickly and concentrate and understand better. The school has modern smart classrooms with CCTV surveillance along with a world class digital centre. The TonsBridge School also has well-equipped labs for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science along with a well-stocked library. The school also has transport facilities for students which includes a fleet of its own busses to transport its students to and from the school. The bus routes cover almost the entire town and each bus is equipped with CCTV and GPRS facilities.

Sports

The school encourages its students to remain fit and healthy. For this reason, it promotes sports and other activities in the school. Students play and represent the school in various sports of their choice. The school has great infrastructure and facilities for sports that its students can use. They include a semi-Olympic size swimming pool, a semi-Olympic size football field, four synthetic lawn tennis courts, two synthetic basketball courts and a horse-riding arena with stables housing four horses. The TonsBridge School also has facilities for indoor sports like table tennis skating.

Extracurriculars

Students at The TonsBridge School also take part in many extracurricular activities. To help in the overall development of students, activities are included along with academics. The school encourages students to take part in activities like debates, quizzes, drama, dance, music, yoga, elocution, art & craft, painting and pottery. Students here can also opt to take part in one club activity out of Heritage, Literary, Economics, Mathemagician, MUN, Performing Arts, Scientific, Nature, Inquizitive, Pottery and Bamboo Work, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Programming, Photography and Designing.

Career Counselling

Students today have many options available to them. These options could be subject choices or even career opportunities. Thus, students very often are confused about the best choice for themselves. Hence, The TonsBridge School also offers students career counselling. Here, professionals from various fields are invited to give talks. There are also many workshops for both, staff and students in order to introduce them to the options available. This exposure helps students make up their minds and decide what they feel would be best for them and where their interests lie.

Eligibility

A student must be 4+ years as of 31st March of the year of admission to be admitted to the KG level at The TonsBridge School.

A student must be 5+ years as of 31st March of the year of admission to be admitted to the 1st grade at The TonsBridge School.

Admission Process

Students in the KG and Class 1 do not have any tests. However, from the 2nd grade onwards, applicants are expected to take entrance tests and have interviews with the school. The TonsBridge School conducts tests on subjects like Mathematics, English, Hindi as well as any other subject they deem necessary. A students admission depends on his/her performance in the test and interview.

While submitting the admission form, the following documents also need to be submitted:

4 passport size photographs of the student

1 passport size photograph of each parent

Further, attested photocopies of the following forms must also be submitted:

Payment of Fees

The school fees must be paid by the 10th of every month. If the fees are not paid by the 10th of the month, then a late fee of Rs. 50/- will be automatically debited from the account. Even though the fees are payable monthly, parents can choose to pay the fees quarterly, half-yearly or yearly if they wish to do so.
