Description

St. Thomas High School, Vijay Nagar, Kalyan (East), Mumbai is a Catholic Institution established in 2000, by the Diocese of Kalyan. It is a Co-Education Institution open to all, irrespective of caste, creed or religion. The school is affiliated with Maharashtra Education Board. 

The school consists of a Pre-primary school of St. John's (Nursery Jr. KG & Sr. KG) and a Primary and Secondary school of St. Thomas. The school has two shifts: 

Morning: 3rd to 10th standard 

Afternoon: Pre-primary, 1st & 2nd standard 

St. Thomas High School offers spacious, airy classrooms, computer laboratory, science studios, a 500+ auditorium with excellent acoustics, audio visual spaces, excellent sporting facilities, a library with good book collection for students and teachers, an administrative software, links between different school departments. 

St. Thomas encourages school children to engage in various sports, and co-curricular activities such as cricket, basketball, chess, carom, table tennis, langadi, kho-kho, kabbadi, olympiad (science, mathematics, english, computer), mass exercise, dancing, singing, debate etc.

Value-added activities such as Annual Festivals, Cultural Weeks, Independence and Republic Day, Sports Day and more are organized by the school. T school uses a "Continuous Assessment and Evaluation of Board Learning" approach. There are two methods used here:

1) Formative Evaluation: The formal evaluation is intended to judge and encourage the progress of a student in physical, intellectual, and emotional ways, and to be enable him/her to be an autonomous, responsible person. This is the ongoing appraisal process using methods such as frequent observation, oral work, practical demonstration experiments, acts, and steps, tasks, spontaneous written and classroom assessments, etc.

2) Summative Evaluation: Compound evaluation at the end of each semester. This includes, depending on topic, written, oral and practical questions.
