Jaspal Kaur Public School (JKPS), Shalimar Bagh was founded in 1987. It was established by Bhai Sahib Ditta Mal Ji, who created the Mata Jai Kaur Charitable Trust (the society responsible for managing the school), in memory of his late wife. It is a well-known Co-educational English Medium school that follows the CBSE board. JKPS aims to provide a feasible environment which fulfils the academic as well as creative needs of approximately 2,500 students.

The campus is spread around an area of about 4.45 acres with various facilities to nurture students so that they become productive and responsible citizens, who can serve our country at any given level, without forgetting the rich traditional and cultural heritage of our embedded roots.

The school motto is Shubh Karman Tey Kabhoo Na Taroon, the words of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Sikh Guru adjuring students to embrace the strongholds of fortitude, patience, dignity, and integrity. The burning flame depicts a child's thirst for learning and attaining knowledge.

JKPS, has classes starting from Pre-Primary School right up to Class 12th. The students of Class 11th have the option to choose between Science and Commerce stream. Well-equipped Computer labs, Science labs, Smart classes are available so that no stones are left unturned in ensuring that the students can get both theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the subjects.

JKPS is known for its emphasis on Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) and sports. Firstly, CCA includes various functions/competitions which are held across the year for singing, dancing, and debates competitions etc. As far as sports is concerned, all Jaspalians are encouraged to actively pursue a sport of their liking and their potential in that area. There are special facilities for Cricket, Hockey, Basketball etc.

JKPS actively encourages its students to take part in Community Service Programs like the Walk for Life-Stride against Cancer (an annual walkathon), Vivekananda Pathshala (held during the CoVid-19 lockdown.)

The admissions for the Pre-Primary School follows a point-based system, with the maximum points a child can score is 100. It is based on the following criterion:

• Distance- 55 points.
• Sikh Community- 15 points.
• Sibling- 15 points.
• School Alumni- 15 points.

The students who wish to enrol in the 9th/11th standard have to fill a registration form. The students who wish to be a part of Class 9th are selected based on their academic performance in their previous school and also the reason for leaving their previous school. For Class 11th, the marks obtained in the Class 10th Board Exams are considered most important in the screening process.
