Jagran Public School, Lucknow is a coeducational public school that is located in Viraj Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. The school was established in 2007 under the aegis of Dainik Jagran and is part of their Jagran Education Foundation. JPS is affiliated to CBSE and provides day boarding as well as boarding facilities. The school provides classes for students from Preschool all the way to Class 12th.
In a little bit more than a decade, the school has established itself as one of the premier institutes in Lucknow with hundreds of students being admitted every year. The reason behind this is their strong emphasis on the very fundamentals of education along with the continuous search for the latest contemporary modes of education. JPS as a school believes in producing not just academicians but students who will become ideal citizens of tomorrow's India.
The Jagran Education Trust is the education wing of the Dainik Jagran Group, it is a functioning body established under the Shri Puran Chandra Gupta Trust. The Trust was founded in 1987, the honour of the Late Shri Puran Chandra Gupta. The aim of the trust is to achieve and develop the educational, cultural, spiritual, medical and other such philanthropic needs of modern India. The pioneer educational venture of the trust was the Puranchand Vidyaniketan, a school in Kanpur, which was established in the year 1991. The success of the school led to the opening of the Jagran Education Foundation in 2005.
Jagran Public School was inspired by the beliefs of Late Shri Puran Chandra Gupta and continues to serve them. The aim of the school is to bring into reality the famous saying of Mahatma Gandhi, "Literary education is of no value if it is not able to build sound character." It tries to so by blending national culture and heritage with the worldwide accepted and premier education norms.
Jagran Public School lays excessive stress on the all-around and enthusiastic participation of its students, the development of a general team spirit and ensuring the mental, spiritual and physical growth of its students.
The campus is spread around a large area of 5 acres. The main building is surrounded by artistically designed gardens and playfields to nurture an environment of learning and growth. The green campus is free from the struggles of urban life, thereby providing its students with a pressure-free environment.
The entire school revolves around the main building which is a massive four-storey educational hub. It has 45 extensive and well-ventilated classrooms to enhance learning. Assembly is important for any school and for this JPS has a large assembly area along with an Open Air Theatre for Pre-Primary section. Other large areas for gatherings in the school are the main school hall, which can accommodate around 200 students and the conference room. For physics lovers, JPS has an Innovative Physics lab called Anveshika. Not one but two libraries are there to increase the knowledge of the students. The school also has a specially designed yoga room as well as an Art and Craft room and many more unique locations for the different interests of the students.
JPS is 100% equipped and meets the standards expected from a CBSE 10+2 school. Physics, Chemistry and Biology labs are all present. The School also has three computer labs that are equipped with the latest software and hardware as well as a high-speed broadband connection.
Jagran Public School, Lucknow also provides hostel facilities for its residential scholars. The hostel is also called 'The Other Home' and accommodates around 165 girls and boys. Students from distinct places such as other cities of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh have come to stay at JPS. Some have even come from outside of India like Nepal and Europe.
The hostel has been divided into two wings, one for boys and one for girls. The boy's wing has a capacity of 100 students and is made up of eight large dormitories. The girl's wing can hold 65 students and has eight spacious dormitories. There is a separate mess for each wing where the students have their meals. All the dormitories are air-conditioned and each student has been provided with a bed.
The Principal and the respective Hostel Wardens have their places of residence inside the campus itself to ensure the safety of the students.
Encompassing the main building of the school are gardens and playfields. The school has a proper football field, a basketball court, three volleyball fields and a badminton field. The school also has a Kho-Kho field to promote the indigenous sport. Along with the lustrous gardens the school also has a nursery for the young plants.
The official canteen is located in the basement which provides healthy food that is necessary for the growth of the students.
