History

Glory Matriculation Higher Secondary School had a very humble beginning. Shri started this school. C. N. Ramakrishna, a journalist and a socialist in the year 1988. This school had 38 students and teachers when it’s journey began and later it was handed over to Dr P. Karvannan, the Managing Director of the Sonny Vinayaga Fireworks Group in the year 2001.

From little acorns, giant trees grow.

These words were proved by the immense growth that this school had. It was upgraded to Matriculation higher secondary school during the academic year 2006-2007. This school has achieved and still achieving great heights with its rich vision. The name of this school has a treasure like meaning in it.

Infrastructure

This school is located in a calm green surrounding away from the hustle and bustle environment. It covers over an area of 10 acres. It has separate laboratories for physical science, chemical science, biological science and computer science. These laboratories are all well equipped and provide a comfortable environment for the students, with all safety measures to ensure the safety of the children. Students can access the computers in the lab anytime when they want.

The classrooms are very spacious, and comfortable seating arrangements are made for the goodness of the students. Smart classroom facilities are available in most of the classrooms to impart audio-visual learning. A quite big library is there with nearly a thousand books of all topics and many newspapers, dailies and magazines are subscribed to promote the reading habit of the students.

Glory matriculation higher secondary school has a massive playground. All students in every class are supposed to take part actively in one or the other sports to develop their physical ability. Physical education is a part of the curriculum. Badminton, throwball, volleyball, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, gymnastics, and many other outdoor and indoor games are available open for all students.

Transportation

 This school provides free transportation facilities to all the students. They own a fleet of school buses.

Extra-curricular activities

 Apart from these sports, martial arts are also taught to all students. Girl students must know self-defence, some arts for that purpose like Karate, Silambam (Tamil Art), Taekwondo are all taught for all students of all classes.

 All fine arts are given equal importance and are taught inside the school campus. The students can choose their field of interest. Bharatanatyam, Western and folk dance courses are also available. Music is also given equal importance and taught to those who are interested much in it.

 Morning assembly before the commencement of regular classes is more like a wisdom centre because this is the place where the students are developed morally, spiritually and intellectually. The regular assembly includes activities like reciting Thirukurals, reading the essential news for widening the current affair knowledge of the students, Did you know? , it is to fill the mind of the people with all possible rich stuff that will be helpful for them in many ways.

Several clubs are formed to ensure the personal development of the students. These clubs are helpful to engage in the activity that the students like or would wish to learn. Some of the clubs are Elocution clubs, Quiz clubs, Arts Club and Knitting Club. Several competitions are also conducted, and the winners are awarded in the anniversary day celebrations.

Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, so it is essential to develop organizing ability and a leading personality in them. Most of the celebrations are handed over to the students; this brings out innovative and organizing ability.

Academics

 This school has classes from Pre-nursery to Higher secondary classes. Students achieve top ranks in the public state-board examinations conducted by the State Government of Tamilnadu. The teachers are picked up with great care in the presence of the managing committee and the principal. Apart from the syllabus prescribed by the state board, they give rich teaching of various other subjects including computer science and general knowledge which are a part of their syllabus from the primary classes.

Parents-teachers meeting

• Parents-teachers meeting is conducted in a regular period so that the parents can know about their children’s behaviour and progress.

• To suggest the parents about their physical health and academical growth of the students.

• To help the students to behave friendly with their parents and teachers, which will make them both physically and mentally healthy.

Scholastic year

The academic begins during the first week of June and ends in April of the following year. The academic year is divided into three terms.

                First-term – June to September

                Second term – October to December

                Third term – January to April

Exams for the matriculation are conducted in March to April, and the Higher Secondary Examination is connected in March.

Admission

• Application forms are available for classes from Pre-nursery to class IX from April to May of every year.

• The minimum age to get admission is 3 years at the time of admission.

• For class X and above, admissions are done through an interview with the student.

• Documents required are the birth certificate, community certificate, TC from the previous school studied, conduct certificate, mark sheet for the higher secondary classes.
