Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Delhi

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya (SPV) is located at Lodi estate in New Delhi. It was promoted in 1957 by the Gujarat Education Society, and the institution has an enrolment of 1,500 students from nursery to class XII. The school has an affiliation CBSE, New Delhi. It is the only private school in India that uses Hindi as the medium of teaching at the primary level. Here, English is the medium of instruction from class 6th onwards and Hindi and Sanskrit are mandatory till class 8th. In class 9th, students can choose between Hindi and Sanskrit. 

Students of class 6th and 8th are offered a choice of four regional languages as the third language. They are–

• Gujarati
• Urdu 
• Bengali 

The school got named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of the Indian independence movement leaders. He was India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. The school is managed by a governing body comprising the president, the Gujarat Education Society secretary, the principal and manager of the school. 

The school offers all the modern facilities required to help the teaching-learning process such as modern laboratories (for science and computers), well-ventilated classrooms and a well-stocked library with a collection of 20,000 books and subscriptions to twenty-five periodicals and six newspapers. The school also offers a medical facility that conducts a regular medical check-up. The school canteen provides various healthy and freshly cooked snacks for the students.
