Kendriya vidyalaya, Chennai

Kendriya Vidyalaya was established in the year 1964 with the help and assistance of IIT Management. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is an independent body set up by the Indian Ministry of Education; to cater to IIT employees' children, Shri. S. Ramachandran was the first principal of the institution, composed of 24 staff members.
The school has primary, secondary and senior secondary sections. It is a co-educational school, with classes from 1st to 12th, affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
Over the last 40 years, the school has received guidance and support from the IIT-Chennai ten directors and ten Vidyalaya principals. 
Nuzzling in the eco-friendly IIT Campus's greenery, the Vidyalaya has been nurtured by the IIT authorities' parental care. Today, it is marching confidently towards its desired goal with head held high. They have the best physical facilities and the fantastic maintenance, thanks to IIT Madras.
Dr M. Manickasamy is the Principal of this esteemed Vidyalaya.
The Vidyalaya has grown from the staff strength of 10 and students' strength of 250 to staff strength of 45 and students strength of 1802
Vidyalaya Management Committee is functioning under the Dean Academic Courses' able guidance, IIT Madras Dr V. Jagadeesh Kumar, with resourceful and dedicated Committee members.
