Cochin Refineries School, Ernakulam

The Cochin Refineries School (CRS) is a senior secondary school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Situated in Kochi, Kerala, the school was established in 1966 for the children of the former Kochi Refineries Limited (KRL) employees. Still, in 2006 the KRL was acquired by the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). Since then it has been open for admission to children of BPCL employees, and in some cases also to the general public. Earlier the school was situated in the charming hilly area of Jwalagiri, Ambalamugal, but in December 2019, the school campus was moved to Vandipettah, Puthencruz. The School motto is- 'That they be refined and radiate'.

CRS as already mentioned is affiliated to the CBSE and prepares its students for All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) for Class 10th and All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) for students of Class 12th. The school has a very competent and well-experienced faculty. The shift to a newer location is related to the commencement of a new technology-laced era for the school, with smart classes and digital classrooms. The school gives its students a chance to opt for either science or commerce in class 11th. The school has a well-stocked library with over 14,000 books. The school has state of the art subject laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computers.

The school has a house system; there are four houses in total- Gagan, Agni, Prithvi and Sagar. Every student is allotted into a house at the time of admission. The students compete in various activities like dancing, singing, elocution, debates, sports events etc. for their respective houses.

As far as sports are concerned, the management has hired specialized coaches for various sports. There is a cricket pitch, a volleyball court, basketball courts etc. The school organizes two major inter-school tournaments in an academic year. 

Various schools from Ernakulum, Kochi take part in the Chacha Nehru volleyball tournament and the Refinian Cup Cricket Tournament.

The school also boasts of an excellent transportation system, which comprises of several buses. A bus in charge is allotted to each bus to ensure the safe commute of the students.

The admission process of the school starts every year in May and School starts in July.

Eligibility:

• For Nursery admissions, the age limit is at least two years and six months as on May 31st.
• For class I, the age limit is five years and six months as on May 31st.
