Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Ernakulam

The Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Ernakulam is a school situated in Kochi, Kerela. It was officially inaugurated in the year 1995, and at that time it had only 30 students with two teachers and ayahs. It is a senior secondary school with an affiliation to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. It is a co-educational, English-medium school. Many critics have hailed it as one of the premier CBSE schools in Kochi. The school campus is spread around an enormous area of over 6 acres. Currently, the school houses over 1200 students with 67 teachers and 11 dedicated members of the non-teaching staff.

The main objective of the Vidyalaya is to provide an all-round education to all the students, focussing on their physical, mental, social and intellectual growth. It tries to provide modern education to its students while ensuring that they are connected to their rich traditional cultures and values. The school motto is- 

The academic curriculum is multi-faceted. The teaching faculty is competent and well-experienced. 

The school classrooms have been transformed into smart classes. A well-stocked library with a wide array of books (including journals, reference books and periodicals) is also present for the convenience of students. For imparting practical knowledge to the students, the school has developed subject laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, computers, mathematics etc.

The school actively encourages its students to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities. For sports, the school management has hired specialized coaches to ensure that students can learn the correct technique/posture. A cricket pitch, basketball court and a volleyball court are present on the school premises. Various cultural events are organized throughout the academic year, in which students get a chance to showcase their expertise in the field of dancing, singing, elocution, symposiums/debates etc. Certified professionals also provide training in yoga, Indian classical music, dancing, etc.

The school has hired as many as 41 buses as a part of its transportation system. A bus in charge is allotted to each bus to ensure the safety and hassle-free commute of the students using the bus service. 

Admission Process

• The school session starts from the first week of April every year and ends during the third week of March. New admissions begin in September. 
• Eligibility criteria for grade 1 are 5+ as on 31st March of the year of admission. 
• The subsequent classes can be so calculated. 
• The first step is to fill the registration form. Once the school receives the registration form, the school will contact you for the date of the Chinmaya Aptitude Entrance Test.
• The entrance test is an online test, comprising of English, science and maths.
• The entrance test will be followed by an interview of the child along with the parents. 
• For NRIs and Foreigners, the school will conduct the entrance test with the interview.
• Rs.5100 needs to be deposited by Indian residents and 100$ by NRI's and Foreigners before the entrance test. This is non-refundable. 
• Based on the results of the test, the school will confirm the student's admission. 
• After admission confirmation, a non-refundable amount of Rs.21000 (Indian residents), US $1000 for NRI's and the US $1200 in case of foreigners will have to be deposited within two days of the offer for admission. Also, the admission confirmation form needs to be submitted. 
• After receipt of this amount, admission of the child will stand confirmed. 
• All admissions to Class 11th are provisional till such time the CBSE results are declared.
