Description

St. Peter's College, Agra is one of the oldest convent schools in India, founded in the year 1846. The students are commonly known as Peterians. It is a Roman Catholic Institution, located opposite the commercial district of Sanjay Place on Wazirpura Road and east of Paliwal Park, Agra. The school has an affiliation to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education board for grade 10th and the Indian School Certificate board for Grade 12.

From the First war of Independence in 1857, the college has stood a witness to the freedom struggle and the changes that have taken place. It had achieved such prominence by 1870 that the then visiting Inspector wrote in his report that it would "bear no unfavourable comparison with the best institutions of a similar kind in England and Europe."

As a result of the high reputation, dignitaries like the Prince of Wales, the Duke, the Duchess of Connaught, Viceroys like Lord Northbrook and Lord Ripon; the Duke of Edinburg; leading sportsman, like Vijay Hazare, actor-singer Kishore Kumar, leading politicians, Governors of Uttar Pradesh; Ambassadors of the Holy See; Mother Teresa; scholars and poets paid visits this Institution. Late Ajit Wadekar, Milka Singh, Kapil Dev, Ashok Kumar Dhyanchand, Ajay Jadeja, Murali Kartik, Nayan Mongia, P. T. Usha, Manjit Dua, and Late Sunil Dutt were also added to this list.

Here the Prime Minister's Award and the Governor's Gold Medal have been awarded to the students several times. The students have been winning various National Talent Search Scholarships regularly.

Apart from the academic side, the emphasis is laid on various other activities like sports, games, debates, music, yoga, gymnastics, athletics, dramatics, elocution, science activities, Swimming, Skating, Taekwondo, Snooker, Lawn Tennis, Basketball, Football, Cricket and Badminton etc. The college students have been representing the district, region and State in different disciplines. 

The college takes a keen interest in social, humanitarian, charitable and nation-building projects. Mother Teresa praised the efforts of the college during her visit along with Help Age India. The institute sents regular help is being given to people affected by leprosy, the needy, the cancer patients, street children, the aged and people affected by natural calamities.

The college actively participates and assimilates the ideals of Dharma Bharati now known as "Universal Solidarity Movement "; a national movement for a value education for peace, based in Indore. 

Admission Criteria

  • Being a minority institution, they do admit children of different castes and creeds.
  • No child of fewer than five years, ten months and more than six years six months will be admitted to class 1. For higher classes, add one year for each class.
  • No pupil will be admitted without a transfer certificate from the school last attended.
  • Students from U.P. seeking admission for classes VI and above must have their Transfer Certificates, countersigned by education authorities.
  • The Transfer Certificate of a pupil coming from outside Uttar Pradesh must be countersigned by proper authorities irrespective of the class into which admission is sought.
  • A pupil seeking admission must produce his Date of Birth certificate issued by the municipal authorities or a Baptism Certificate, along with his Transfer Certificate.
  • Admission is given based on the Entrance Test and the availability of seats.
  • Irrespective of the time of admission, the fee will be charged from the beginning of the academic session.
  • No pupil will be admitted in any class higher than that for which the Transfer certificate shows him to be qualified, nor will he be granted out of turn promotions.
