Rashtriya Military School Chail, Solan

The Rashtriya Military School, Chail is an all-boys, residential school in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. It was established in the year 1922 with a grant of Rs. 2.5 Lacs from King George V, who also laid the school’s foundation stone in February 1922. The school has a healthy student to teaching staff ratio of 10:1.

The institute is a category ‘A’ establishment of the Military and is governed by the Directorate General of Military Training at IHQ of MOD (Military). The Central Governing Council (CGC) headed by the Defense Secretary, Ministry of Defense forms the crest of the school.

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and nurtures boys aged between 10-18 for the All-India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) and the All-India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE), i.e., the Class 10th and 12th Board exams, respectively.

The school campus is located at the centre of the Chail Sanctuary (110 Km2) and is situated at an altitude of approximately 2.14 Km above the sea level, amidst a heavily forested area full of deodar and pine trees.
