Description

Scholars of the College write the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (Year 10) Examination (ICSE) and the Indian School Certificate (Year 12) Examination (ISC) conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi (CISCE).

The performance of the Scholars is evaluated on a regular basis. Regular Tests are administered to assess continuous progress. Together with Half-Yearly Examinations and Final Examinations they also form the basis for promotion to the next higher class. Students may be advised to attend Remedial Classes that are held in the College regularly. These classes are held after school hours or on holidays. Summer classes are held throughout the vacations in the morning. They are especially structured to assist Scholars in both the College Syllabus and in competitive examinations.

 

Colvin Taluqdars' College retains its distinction as a premier residential College. Over the years, it has been found appropriate to admit day-scholars to the institution, who can take advantage of the infrastructure provided. The College hostel is spacious and the multi-cuisine served is wholesome and of quality. The best aspects of a residential College are encouraged. This includes gentlemanly behaviour, self-discipline, etiquette and manners befitting students who are being groomed to face the challenges of international living.

The vast playing fields, enclosed on all sides and well-guarded are dedicated to the younger students where they can hone their skills and fine tune their athletic abilities. There is a separate Football field for these younger pupils. 

 

Every classroom of the Primary Section has the latest teaching aid always present to assist the teachers. Television sets are used for visuals to get a deeper understanding of the concepts. Age appropriate lessons on multimedia players, aid in pronunciation, diction and inflections, perfecting speech in these formative years.

Teachers and Students regularly receive orientation from experts and career guidance from qualified counsellors. The staff is well-trained and constantly motivated to serve to the utmost of their capacity and beyond. Procedure of Admission

 

After purchasing this Prospectus, parents seeking admission for their children must complete the Registration Form enclosed. Two copies of Rules and Regulations are also given to the parents. The Registration Form must be completed in all respects and submitted at the College Office on the date indicated on the form. A signed copy of the Rules and Regulations must also be deposited along with the completed Registration Form.

 

 

 

Age Requirements

 

The minimum age as on 31st March of the year of admission should be:

 

 

 

Playgroup:  2 Years

 

Nursery: 3 Years

 

Lower Kindergarten (LKG): 4 Years

 

Upper Kindergarten (UKG): 5 Years

 

Class I: 6 Years

 

For admission to Class I and higher Classes, a Transfer Certificate is required.

 

 

 

ADMISSIONS AND SCHOOL LEAVING EXAMINATIONS

 

Interview/Written Test/Provisional Admission

 

Candidates seeking admissions will be interviewed and tested for preparedness for the class they seek admission to.

 

Admission will be offered to Class XI students from other schools on the basis of their performance in the Class X Board Examinations and an interview. A written test will also be conducted. Admission to Class XI will remain provisional unless approved by the Council.

 

Kindly note that registration does not guarantee admission.

 

Candidates offered admission will be required to complete all admission formalities within a week, failing which no further requests for admission will be entertained. The College reserves the right to offer the seat to another candidate in order of merit.

 

ISC/ICSE Council’s Condition of Entry

 

“Entry to the Indian School Certificate Examination/Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination in the case of eligible candidates, who are being entered for the first time, is restricted to candidates with a minimum of 75% attendance of the working days during each year of the two year course at school(s) affiliated to the Council and registered for the (Indian School Certificate Examination/Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination). The last date of computing attendance at schools is February 15 of the year of the examination.”

 

It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to ensure that their child/ward attends classes regularly. NO STUDENT, whose attendance IS BELOW 75% OF THE WORKING DAYS in the academic year may be permitted to appear for EITHER THE HALF-YEARLY OR THE FINAL EXAMINATION. This is a Council Regulation.
