Description

Bombay International School (BIS) is a senior-secondary day school established in 1962. Situated in Babulnath at Mumbai, the International school is managed by the Bombay International Schools Association. The medium of instruction is English. BIS is affiliated with International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). BIS offers educational provisions from Preschool to class 12.

The fascinating infrastructure of the school adds to its uniqueness. Various classrooms, playground, etc. are added to these sprawling facilities provided by the school:

  • Laboratories - Well-equipped laboratories for subjects such as physics, chemistry and biology. These laboratories are equipped with the latest apparatus following international safety standards.
  • Library - Follows the open-shelf design for easy access. The library is a student-friendly space for learning and has progressed over time to accommodate at least 20,000 books.
  • Kitchen - Here, parents personally plan and cook daily hot meals for the entire school, which includes the students, teaching faculty as well as the auxiliary staff.
  • Art and Crafts Room - There are two exclusive rooms available for art and creative pursuits - one collectively for the primary, middle and the senior school; and the second one separately for the IBDP students.
  • Auditorium with a stage - The hall centres activities such as daily assemblies and school functions and functions as a dining hall as well. It consists of a stage, a green room, along with a sound system as well as a projector.
  • Gym - Hosts dance, yoga and gym classes
  • Audio-visual Room - For film screenings, yoga, dramatics and meetings
  • Hangout Spaces - Out-of-the-box thinking spots

BIS also offers a diverse set of sports and other extra-curricular activities which are organised at the inter-house and inter-school level. There are also debate, quiz and drama competitions organised annually by the school. Students are also offered opportunities to participate in performing arts such as dance, drama, art, music (both Indian and western), yoga and martial arts. The Physical Department department at BIS in collaboration with the MSSA (Maharashtra State Sports Association) and DSO encourages its students to participate in sports tournaments. These are the inter-house tournaments conducted throughout the year as part of the sports curriculum:

Admission Criteria

Admission Procedure for Lower Prep

  • The applicant should be three years old, approximately twelve months before he/she is admitted to the school.
  • Parents are required to check the website for the eligibility criteria for the admission.
  • The admission process is commenced by filling the online registration form available on the school's website between July-August.
  • Parents have to fill the application form and submit it online, along with the payment of registration fees.
  • Both the parents are required to be present at a given date to fill up the original admission form, where they are contacted to come in-person to the school premises.

Admission to the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP)

  • For more details, please please visit the IB Curriculum page on the school website.
  • Applications for admission to the IB Diploma Programme are accepted in August and September.
  • The form for IBDP has to be filled by the student and submitted along with the essential documents.
  • The registration fee should also be paid at the IBDP office along with the form and documents.
  • After the application is submitted and verified, students will be informed to appear for an entrance test.
  • Selected students are afterwards called for a personal interaction session with members of the Admissions Committee.
  • Parents are sent a confirmation mail about the status of the admission before the end of the same year.

PLEASE NOTE: There is an option of chance vacancies, if applicable, a notice is put up on the school website between February-March. For chance vacancies, parents have to fill in an application form, after which the child is asked to appear for a written test.
