The Indian government provides funding for the central government scholarships. No matter which state they are from, Indian residents are eligible for these scholarships. The following are a few of the important government departments in India that work to offer students scholarships:

List of Central Government Scholarships

Pre-Matric Scholarship for Disabled Students 

The N.S.P. Pre-Matric Fellowship for Disabled students 2021–22 program is aimed at Class 9 and 10 students who are physically challenged. The Department of Empowerment of disabled peoples, Government of India, provides the scholarship. 

Eligibility

An applicant must meet the given  requirements to be considered:

  • be a proper full student of Class nine or ten at a government- or government-recognized school
  •  have a disability that is greater than 40%
  • have a valid disability certificate.
  • Own a household income from all sources below INR 2.50 lakh per year.

Benefits

The following advantages will be granted to the chosen students. –

  • Maintenance Amount for a full academic year’s worth of support (for boarders): INR 800
  • Maintenance Monthly allowance for day students for the full academic year: INR 500
  • Book Grant: INR 1,000 annually (for both day scholars and hostellers  ).

Disability benefits will be distributed as follows: –

  • Visually impaired: 4,000 Indian rupees per year
  • Hearing-impaired: 2,000 INR per year
  • Physically challenged: 2,000 INR per year
  • Intellectual disability: 4,000 Indian rupees annually
  • INR 2,000 per year for all other sorts of disabilities

Scholarship for Post-High School Students with Disabilities

This is yet another important scholarship program the Indian government has established to help students with disabilities continue their education so they may support themselves and find a respectable position in society.

Eligibility

Class, ten or twelve graduates with a family income of less than INR 2.5 lac are eligible.

maintenance, book, and other allowances, as well as payment of a mandatory, non-refundable charge.

Scholarships for Pre-Matric Initiative for Minorities

To encourage minority community parents to enroll their children in school and guarantee that all children have access to basic education till class 10, the Pre-Matric Scholarships for Minorities program was established. 

Eligibility

  • Candidates must be members of a minority group as designated by the Indian government. In addition, candidates must be enrolled in classes 1 through 10 in a public or private school.
  •  Students who want to be considered for this award must receive at least 50 percent on their final test.
  • The candidate’s parents’ or guardians’ yearly household income should not be more than INR 1 lakh.

Benefits

  •  entrance fee for classes six through ten. 500 rupees each year
  • The monthly tuition for classes 6 through 10 will be INR 350.
  • Maintenance assistance is paid for a maximum of 10 months in a school year.
  • Classes 1 through 5 will cost INR 100 per month.
  • Class 6 to 10 will cost INR 600 for boarders and INR 100 daily monthly students.

Post-High School Scholarships Initiative for Minorities

Eligibility

  • A candidate must: be a member of a minority group (Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, or Zoroastrian/Parsi are examples);
  • possess a Class 11, Class 12, graduate, postgraduate, technical, or vocational degree, an M.Phil., or a Ph.D., and be enrolled in one of these programs; moreover, hold courses at the graduate, postgraduate, technical, or vocational level.
  • Own a household income from all sources that is below INR 2.5 lakh per year.

Benefits

The scholarship will be provided to the chosen candidates in the following ways:

  • Scholarship rate Entry and Tuition Fees – Entry and tuition fees Class 11 and 12: 7,000 INR per year, based on actuals (both boarders & Day Scholar)
  • Technical and vocational courses in the 11th and 12th grades’ admission requirements and course/tuition costs (Courses of 1 or more years of duration) – INR 10,000 year, based on actuals (both Hosteller & Day Scholar)
  • Admission and tuition for undergraduate and graduate students are INR 3,000 per year, subject to change (both Hosteller & Day Scholar)
  • Maintenance Assistance for Classes 11 and 12, Including Technical and Vocational Courses – INR 230 / month for Day Scholars and INR 380 / month for Hostellers.
  • For U.G. and P.G. level* studies other than technical and professional degrees, the monthly fees for a hostel resident are INR 570, and for a day scholar are INR 300.
  • For M.Phil. and Ph. the monthly hostess fee is INR 1,200, and the monthly day scholar fee is INR 550.

Scholarship for Professional & Technical Courses is what Merit Cum means. 

The Merit Cum Means fellowship for Professional and Technical Courses C.S. (Minorities) 2022–23 is a program for minority community students enrolled in undergraduate or graduated technical or professional programs. The Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) provides the scholarship.

Eligibility

  • A candidate must: be a member of one of the minority groups (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, or Parsis/Zoroastrians) to be eligible.
  • An annual income below INR 2.50 lakhs from all sources is enrolled in a technical or professional program at the postgraduate or undergraduate level from an accredited school with at least 50% grades or an equivalent grade.

Benefits

The following advantages will be granted to the chosen candidates:

  • Subject to real costs, the rate of the scholarship (course fee) shall be INR 20,000 each year, whichever is somewhat less (for both Hostellers and Day Scholars)
  • Maintenance Allowance for Hostellers is INR 1,000 / month for ten months, while for Day Scholars, it is INR 500 monthly for ten months.
  • Full course fees are compensated for 85 of the listed institutes. Scholarship

Scholarship for Cum Merit in the National Means

The N.S.P. National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme 2022–23 is a program for ninth-graders enrolling in public, publicly-aided, and locally-run schools. The Department of School Literacy and Education, the Indian government, provides the scholarship. 

Eligibility

  •  be enrolled in the 9th class in Government, Government-aided, and local schools,
  •  have earned at least 55 percent of the possible points in the Class 8 test, and be an SC/ST student.
  • A household income from all sources is lower than INR 3.50 lakh per year.

Benefits

  • Under this program, a total of 1 lakh fellowships would be awarded. The chosen students would earn INR 12,000 annually (INR 1,000  monthly ).

Scholarship Program for University and College Students, Central Sector

The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, and Government of India have launched the N.S.P. Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students 2022–23 to assist Class 12 graduates enrolled in college or university.

Eligibility

An applicant must meet the given criteria to be considered:

  •  be enrolled in a regular course at a college or institution that has been approved by the (AICTE) All India Council for Technical Study/Education  and the relevant regulatory bodies
  • rank higher than 80 percent of those who passed their Class 12 examination using the 10+2 pattern or an equivalent
  • having a household income from all sources not exceeding INR 4.5 lakh per year.
  • Not hold a scholarship from another organization.

Benefits

  • The first three years of university or college courses cost INR 10,000 each at the graduate level.
  • At the postgraduate level, the annual salary is INR 20,000.
  • INR 20,000 per year will be granted in the fourth and fifth years of a five-year professional program or integrated course.
  • Up to the graduation level, technical degrees such as B.E./B.Tech. Cost INR 12,000 yearly for the first, second, and third years, and INR 20,000 for the fourth year.

Prime Minister’s Scholarship Program for the Assam Rifles and Central Armed Police.

The Welfare and Rehabilitation Board, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has created the Prime Minister’s fellowship program for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles 2022–2023 for the dependent wards and widows of members of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles.

Eligibility

An applicant must meet one of the following requirements to be considered:

  •  Be the ward or widow of a deceased member of the CAPFs or the A.R. who died while on duty or while conducting an election.
  • Be a person who is disabled as a result of conditions related to government service.
  •  Be an ex-member of the CAPFs or the A.R. who has received a gallantry award.
  •  Or be the ward or widow of a member of the CAPFs or the A.R. who is currently serving and is 
  • enrolled in a first professional degree program in the fields of engineering, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, B.B.A., B.C.A., B. Pharma, B.Sc. (nursing, agriculture, etc.), M.B.A., and M.C.A., among others, at a facility approved by government regulatory bodies like the University Grant Commission, the All India Council for Technical Education, and the Medical Council of India (U.G.C.).
  • having earned at least 60 percent of the required marks in the entry-level course (MEQ) Class 12 diploma, diploma, degree, or comparable (For new applicant)
  • have earned at least a 50 % grade in each professional course year that followed (For renewal)

Benefits

  • The successful candidate will get a scholarship worth INR 3,000 for ladies and INR 2,500 for boys each month.

Documents

  • The H.O.O. will issue a certificate of documents service.
  • Class 12/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent mark sheet with attested scanned copies of the following certifications.
  • P.P.O., Discharge Book, or Certificate (Mandatory for categories A to F)
  • Certificate of Disabilities (Mandatory for categories B & D)
  • Certificate of Death (Mandatory for categories A & C)
  • Award of a Certificate of Valor (Mandatory for category E)
  • a document from the state government attesting to the deaths of state police officers due to terrorism or Naxal violence (mandatory)

The RPF/RPSF Scholarship Program of the Prime Minister.

An initiative of the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, is the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for RPF/RPSF 2022–2023 for the wards and widows of former RPF/RPSF members.

Eligibility

  • A candidate must meet the given requirements
  •  to be eligible:
  • Be a dependent ward or a widow of ex-RPF/RPSF personnel ; 
  • Be enrolled in a regular professional or technical degree program (B.E., B.Tech, MBBS, M.C.A., B.C.A., B.B.S., B.C.A., M.C.A., B.Pharma, B.Ed, etc.) at an institution approved by government regulatory bodies such as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Medical Council (Note: Only institutions, universities, and colleges that adhere to the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) regulations are allowed.)
  • having completed a Class 12 or other Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) with a grade of 60 percent or higher

Benefits

Under this program, a total of 150 fellowships will be awarded. The scholarship amount would be as follows:

  • monthly payment of INR 2,500 for male students
  • monthly stipend for female students of INR 3,000

Documents

The following files must be supplied when submitting an online scholarship application:

  • Service Certificate for Category 4 issued by relevant offices of the serving personnel.
  • A duplicate of the discharge book, P.P.O., or both for Categories 1, 2, and 3.
  • Authenticated scanned copies of a Class 12 report card, diploma, or diploma of completion.

National Scholarship for S.T. Students Pursuing Higher Education

An effort for S.T. students taking classes at the Graduate/P.G. level and M.Phil/Ph.D. level is the N.S.P. National Scholarship and Fellowship for Higher Education of S.T. Students 2022–2023 (N.S.P.). The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Indian government, provides the scholarship.

Eligibility

 For scholarship
  • To qualify, a candidate must: – have passed the postgraduate examination; get admitted or registered for a normal full-time M.Phil. or Ph.D. degree program at institutions, and meet the requirements established by U.G.C. and ICAR.
For fellowship
  • have been accepted into the institutes specified and notified by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs
  •  Their family’s yearly income is less than INR 6 lakh.

Benefits

Students completing the M.Phil program will be rewarded –
  • the scholarship will be given in the amount of 750. If an acceptable number of Scheduled Tribe applicants are unavailable, the number of fellowships not used during a year shall be carried to the following academic session. The number of places is not limited by state or university.
  • Students will be given a scholarship of INR 25,000 per month for the M.Phil program.
  • A yearly contingency of INR 10,000 for Humanities and Social Sciences and INR 12,000 for Science, Engineering, and Technology.
  • The norms of the appropriate institution determine the H.R.A. amount.
  • Monthly escort/reader help of INR 2,000 for physically disabled and blind applicants.
Students enrolled in the Ph.D. program will be granted –
  • A monthly fellowship of INR 28,000 is available.
  • A contingency fund of INR 20,500 per year for Humanities and Social Sciences and INR 25,000 per year for Science, Engineering, and Technology.
  • The norms of the appropriate institution determine the H.R.A. amount.
  • Monthly escort/reader help of INR 2,000 for physically disabled and blind candidates

For the Fellowship

Financial Support for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Studies Education of the Children of Beedi/Cine/IOMC/LSDM Employees

The Government of India’s Ministry of Labor and Employment provides the scholarship.

Eligibility

  • To be approved, a candidate must be a student in Class 1 through Class 10.
  • be a Beedi, Iron Ore Manganese & Chrome Ore Mines, Limestone & Dolomite Mines, or Cine worker with a minimum of six months of service (Note: Contract/Gharkhata (Home Based) employees are also included.)
  • having accepted regular admission to studies at recognized institutions in India in any program of general and professional education, including medical, engineering, and agricultural studies and have passed the last qualifying test on the first try
  • having a monthly income of less than INR 10,000 from any sources

Benefits

  • Class one to four (for apparel, books, etc.) is INR 1,000
  • Class 5 to 8 is INR 1,500
  •  Class 9 is INR 2,000
  • Class 10 is INR 2,000.
  • 3,000INR for Classes 11 and 12.
  •  for I.T.I. is 6,000INR.
  • For Polytechnic is 6,000INR.
  • Degree courses (including B.Sc. Agriculture) are priced at 6,000INR.
  • Professional Courses cost 25,000INR.

  • The following paperwork is required:
  • Photograph of the candidate
  • a copy of the worker’s identification card (Form B Register Number in case of mine workers)
  • Copy of the front page of a bank passbook or a canceled cheque (which should include the account holder/information) beneficiary’s
  • Previous academic year’s passing certificate/mark sheet
  • The revenue authority issues an income certificate.

KV Protsahan Yojana, Kishore (KVPY).

Eligibility

SA Stream –
  •  Students enrolled in/plan to enroll in Class xii (Science subjects) in 2021-22 are eligible.
  • Aspire to enroll in a U.G. program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) in 2023-24 after achieving a minimum of 60% (50 percent for SC/ST & P.W.D.) in Science Subjects in the Class 12 board test.
SX Stream – 
  • Enroll in Class 12 (Science Subjects) for the 2021-22 academic year.
  • Be willing to enroll in an undergraduate Basic Science course (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.) during the academic year 2022-23.
  • Have obtained at least 60% (50 percent for SC/ST & P.W.D.) in aggregate in scientific subjects in the Class 12 board examination
SB Stream –
  •  Have passed the Class 12 board test
  • During the academic year 2021-22, be enrolled in the first year of a BSc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.
  • Have obtained a minimum of 60% (50%) in aggregate Science Subjects in the first year of a B.Sc./B.S./ M.Sc./Int. M.S.B. Stat./B. Math./Int. Degree.

Benefits

Students that are chosen will get the following benefits:

  • During the first to third years of a BSc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./M.S./Integrated M.S. degree, the selected fellow will earn a monthly allowance of INR 5,000 and an annual contingent grant of INR 20,000.
  • Fellows in their fourth and fifth years of an M.Sc./M.S./M.Math./M.Stat. the degree will earn a monthly allowance of INR 7,000 and an annual contingencies grant of INR 28,000 yearly.
