Bharati Vidyapeeth New Law College, established in 1978, is one of the leading law colleges in India.The college is affiliated with Bharati Vidyapeeth University. It has also been approved by the Bar Council of India. The institute was re-accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an A+, in 2017. Inaugurated by Justice Y.V. Chandrachud, the then Chief Justice Of India, the college has been ranked among the top 10 law colleges in India.

Founded by Dr Patangrao Kadam with the aim to bring about intellectual awakening & development for students. The college strongly upholds its values and goes by the motto “Law is King of Kings” – meaning the law is the highest of all and is even above kings. Bharati Vidyapeeth New Law College, offers various courses such as LL.B, B.A. LL.B, BBA LL.B, LLM program and PhD in Law. Bharati Law Review is the law journal of the New Law College, published on a quarterly basis.

Infrastructure at The New Law College

Bharati Vidyapeeth New Law College is well equipped with state of art facilities and classrooms. The facilities include an auditorium, moot court hall, placement cell, cyber cell, legal aid cell, playground, etc. The New Law college strongly believes in inculcating the habit of reading among its students, hence the well-stocked library with a huge collection of books serves the purpose. It also has a wide collection of online databases like Manupatra, Westlaw, SCC Online, etc. 

The college also has an in-campus hostel and canteen facility. Various food outlets and cafes are located in the campus for the convenience of the students. Free internet facility is available for all the students provided by the cyber cell. The adequate and accurate application of information technology and e-learning gives an edge to the college over other law institutions.

A strong team of qualified faculty, ensures that quality legal education is provided to every student. The faculty includes various academicians, research scholars and legal luminaries. The college believes that law is not only taught through books rather by practical experiences. Thereby, various seminars and visits by judges and eminent personalities are organized to impart practical legal education to students. The faculty of the college also participates and encourages student participation regularly in national & international conferences to provide adequate exposure to students.

Accommodation

The college has an in-campus hostel facility for both male and female students studying in various courses across the college. Rooms are provided on a sharing basis with necessary furniture for each student in every room. The hostel is equipped with a mess facility, 24/7 security and other necessary facilities to ensure the safety of students. Further safety is ensured by the dedicated team of wardens monitoring the premises as well as providing constant guidance to the students.

Courses Offered

Undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate and diploma courses in law are offered by the New Law College. All courses are recognized and approved by the BCI & UGC. Undergraduate courses offered include a 3 year LLB, a 5 year BBA LLB and a 5 year BA LLB course. The Post-graduate courses offered include both 1 year and 2 year LLM in various fields. Students can specialize in Constitutional Law, International Law, Corporate Law and many others. 

The college also offers certificate courses and diplomas in subjects like Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Human Rights etc. For further guidance, the institute has back volumes of reputed law journals, law reports, and of reference books, including 

  • All England Law Reports 
  • United States Supreme Courts Reports (136 volumes)
  • Corpus Juris Secundum (150 volumes)

Extracurricular Activities

The New Law College provides a wide range of extracurricular activities and practical training to its students. Various activities like moot court competitions and legal seminars are a part of the curriculum. To ensure students understand the practical application, court visits, NGO visits, prison visits and law firm visits are organised. New Law College organizes various inter-college competitions for the students. The P N Bhagwati Moot Court Competition is an annual International Human Rights Moot Court Competition. The competition is the right platform for both national and international students to actively participate.

International Associations

The New Law College is associated with renowned law colleges around the world for student exchange programs. Various moot courts and law-related events are carried out to provide exposure. Harvard University, Oxford University, John Marshall Law School, King’s College London are associated with the New Law College. Through these programs, students are provided with international exposure. It is an opportunity for students to experience the dynamics of law in other countries to understand the subject better.

Internships & Placements

The New Law College offers internship opportunities to its students allowing students to work with various firms, lawyers and companies. In addition to providing legal education through books, practical exposure is also provided at the college. After the completion of the course, students are provided with placement opportunities at various companies. Companies are invited for an annual job fair organized by the university so that students can secure their dream jobs.
