Description

The B.K. Birla Centre for Education (BKBCE) is a premier Senior-secondary, Co-educational residential school. It was established in the year 1998 by Mr B.K. Birla and his wife, Mrs Sarala Birla. This institute was built with the motive to impart quality education to the Indian youth while keeping their well-rooted culture and values intact. The institute is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and has found a prime placement in the Merit List of the CBSE examinations. During its initial days, the school had only a handful of students and staff. Over the years it has flourished a lot and now boasts of a strong student body of around 600 students and 50 teachers.

The hostel facilities are top-notch. It has 5 blocks (including a girls-only block named the Banyan House). The students from Classes 4th to 8th have to live in dormitories, whereas students from Classes 9th to 12th have to stay in twin-sharing rooms. The girl's block is situated in close proximity to the Principal's bungalow and is heavily guarded. The hostel has a well-equipped medical centre in which 3 nurses and at least 2 ward boys are present at all times.

The school takes the academic curriculum very seriously. The mode of assessment is heavily inclined towards an exploratory approach to learning and application of skills, knowledge and understanding. This is done primarily to reduce the stress on children. All the Classrooms are well-ventilated and have been transformed into a smart class. There are subject laboratories to impart practical knowledge to the students and a resourceful library with an extensive collection of over 10,000 books.

The school actively encourages its students to take part in cultural and sports events. There are specialized facilities with world-class coaches for swimming, roller skating, billiards, chess, cricket and football. The school management has also set up various Hobby clubs, (Hobby sessions are held every Saturday for an hour) which include gardening, western music, cooking etc. For students interested in music, BKBCE is a great school as it is one of the few CBSE-affiliated schools to include music in its curriculum. There are separate sections for Western and Indian music lovers.
