The school was established in 1919 by the order of the Religious of Jesus and Mary. The Convent of Jesus and Mary School, New Delhi which has been set up by the Jesus and Mary, Delhi Educational Society, a Christian minority association, centers primarily around the proficiency of the Catholic members of the society and aims at the protection of strict Catholic practices.

Some inclination may be given to Catholic children during the admission process even though admission is open to children of different parts of the community without any discrimination on the basis of caste or creed. The end goal of this institution is sustaining Catholic beliefs, in regard to which classes in religion are also led and it is mandatory for catholic children to attend these classes.

The school has an arrangement for the 10+2 plan of education for the streams KG to XII. The scholarly year stretches out from April to March of the next year and is split into two terms.
