Abhyasa International Residential School was established in June 1996 at Toopran, Telangana. It is managed by Sri Sathya Sai Sanskruthi Educational Society, a semi-autonomous and self-financing NGO while being affiliated with ICSE, New Delhi. The institute aims to infuse a blend of the ancient Gurukuls and modernistic public educational systems into the students of Abhyasa.
At Abhyasa, the management encourages students to participate in diversified sports and physical activities at the inter-school level. The sports activities offered at the school comprise of:
Additionally, apart from these sports activities, the school also offers other physical activities as part of the curriculum:
Abhyasa provides a fantastic opportunity wherein 10% of students in the school get an opportunity annually to undertake leadership roles such as mentioned below. It is a helpful initiative for students to experience leadership and responsibility.
Each student at Abhyasa is assigned a house which he/she represents in all competitions on the school campus. The school is divided into two houses - Shiva (Blue Color) and Shakti (Red Color). The house captains mobilise boys and girls to participate in various Inter-House games and cultural activities. Competitions are conducted throughout the year to train students for Inter-School competitions. Annually, a time table is drawn up for exhibition matches every weekend, while track & field is held between September – October. However, these programmes are planned in consultation with the student leaders.
There are extracurricular Inter-house competitions in various events such as Dance, Music, Fashion Show, Quiz, Debate, Elocution, Science Projects, Poetry, Dramatics, Antakshri, etc. organised between the Shiva and Shakti Houses at the three competitive levels - Junior, Intermediate and Senior. The students undertake all preparations for the accompanying performances without any inputs from staff members. This imbibes organisational, and management skills in children along with collective responsibility. These competitions are held every Sunday. Points scored by each house is added to the overall tally of the House Points.
Abhyasa means ‘Practice’ and has adopted the motto, “Perfection through Practice.”
